Skipping Stitches?
There can be several problems that can cause a sewing machine to skip stitches, but the most common problems are as listed:
-
Needle is bent, burred or installed incorrectly.
Always change your needle first. Never attempt to repair or adjust your sewing machine without first changing the needle. - Not enough pressure on the presser foot.
If there is not enough pressure on the presser foot, the material you are sewing will try to rise as the needle comes up, causing a skipped stitch. - Incorrect needle thread tension
If your top tension is too tight it will cause skipped stitches. - Incorrect timing
Skipped stitches caused by incorrect timing are best left to the experts. Take your machine to a qualified repairman.
